But giving them access to actual customer data can cause data breaches and accidents, such as emails going from sandbox to real customers. Data masker helps solve this problem. Data masker also provides a sample configuration for your contact and account records. Let's take a look at contact records. This is a sample masking of contact records. I'm erasing the contact description and replacing the email, first name, and last name. Data masker offers easy capabilities to mask data into a legible, business-friendly format. For example, you can pick from random values, a hardcoded value, or even choose from a custom list. Once done, save the configuration and data masker is ready to go. Let's run data masker. I go back to my configuration and I hit run masking. At this point data masker allows me to mask everything or just specific objects. I'm going to mask my contact records and I'm going to hit run.
